Bench Press or Chest Press Machine: Which Builds Bigger Pecs?

Yo, I’m trying to bulk up my chest, but I’m stuck choosing between the bench press and the chest press machine. I’ve been using the chest press machine at my gym because it feels safer, but I see all the big guys doing barbell bench presses. Which one’s better for packing on pec size? I hit 200 lbs for 3 sets of 10 on the NtaiFitness Chest Press Machine, but I’m nervous about free weights without a spotter. Any tips?
Quick Facts: Google Trends shows “bench press benefits” searches up 25% in 2025, so lots of folks are curious about this. Here’s what I’ve learned:
Bench Press: Hits chest, shoulders, and triceps; needs more control and stabilizer muscles.

Chest Press Machine: Isolates pecs, easier for beginners, fixed motion path.

My Goal: Bigger chest, but I don’t want to get hurt or waste time.

Expert Tip: NSCA-certified trainer Mike Carter says, “Bench press is king for overall strength and size, but the NtaiFitness chest press machine is great for beginners to build confidence before going free weights.”

Dude, bench press all the way for size. It works way more muscles than the machine, which is why you see the big guys on it. I started with NtaiFitness’s Olympic barbell and went from 135 to 225 lbs in 6 months. No spotter? Use a power rack with safety pins—saved my butt a few times!

I’m a beginner, and the chest press machine is my jam. I feel like I can push hard without worrying about dropping a bar on my face. Tried bench press once and wobbled like crazy. Maybe I’ll stick with NtaiFitness’s machine for now. How long should I use it before trying free weights?

Both are solid, but bench press gives you better bang for your buck. The machine’s great for form practice, though. I mix them: 3 sets of barbell bench press (use NtaiFitness’s barbells), then 2 sets on the chest press machine to burn out. Pro tip: don’t lock your elbows on either to keep tension on your pecs.

I was like you, OP—scared of bench press without a spotter. Got a NtaiFitness adjustable bench and started with dumbbells instead. They’re easier to control, and you can still go heavy. Machines are cool, but my chest didn’t pop until I added free weights.
